Hours of Operation: Tuesdays & Thursdays during all lunches

As part of our Partners in Education Program, FMFCU embarked on an exciting and unique partnership with select school districts by opening Student Financial Literacy Centers.

The FMFCU Financial Literacy Center located in Garnet Valley High School is one of ten operating in local high schools.  FMFCU developed this program to enhance its Community Education initiative with three major objectives in mind: to provide teens with real-life personal finance skills, job skills training, and providing a resource for overall financial literacy for the school community.  The on-site center offers students, faculty, staff, and parents where they can find information about financial literacy topics like budgeting, accounts, loans, and other financial subjects.

The Garnet Valley High School Financial Literacy Center has a two-fold mission of promoting financial awareness to students and teachers while providing hands-on work experience to students enrolled in FMFCU’s intern program.  The center is a miniature version of other FMFCU offices and the interns are GVHS students trained similar to any new Credit Union employee.  While working, interns help promote FMFCU products and services as well as put into practice the financial strategies, marketing skills, and sales techniques learned at the Financial Literacy Center.  All of this is done under the supervision of an on-site FMFCU Coordinator.

The Financial Literacy Center is located in the cafeteria ticket booth and is open on Tuesdays throughout the school year.
